Pre-school
Yellow Room

We would like to welcome you and your child to our Yellow room, we aim to meet the individual needs of our children and their families. As children reach this room we keep them in their academic year cohorts, to help form friendships ready for school.
In Pre-School we provide opportunity for children to develop their learning whilst having fun. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and our own nursery curriculum planning and carrying out daily activities, planned by both practitioners and children by following their interests.
We reinforce language skills and incorporate it in everything we do, from small world, construction, role play, reading books and playing with our friends.
We use the Family app to share photo’s, observations, meals and sleeps and any other information with you so you can access it during the day to see all the fun your child is having.
We welcome any contributions from parents and love to incorporate what your child has been doing at home into our weekly planning, please share any ideas or photographs with us using our Family app, this is a great conversation starter for the children.
We love getting messy and playing outside regularly, so a bag of spare clothes would be great, along with, warm clothes for the winter, wellies for wet weather and sun cream and hats for the summer. The nursery has the motto whatever the weather and love to spend time outdoors, running, riding bikes, climbing and creating obstacle courses. These all link into the prime areas and our nursery curriculum.
In yellow room we focus on milestone 3 and continue to follow our nursery curriculum to encourage turn taking, following simple instruction, counting to 3 and exploring a wide range of music, thinking about; fast, slow, loud, quiet.
Food is an important part of our day; we encourage children to eat and drink regularly and also try different types of food. We achieve this by a varied healthy menu, food theme days and a variety of food-based activities.
Children have their own coat peg and drawer, labelled with their photo, where all their beautiful pictures will be stored, please check this regularly
We would like to welcome you and your child to our Pre-School 2 room, we aim to meet the individual needs of our children and their families and support the children to adopt the early independence skills ready for school.
Red Room

We would like to welcome you and your child to our red room. As children reach this room, we begin to promote their independence; the children are encouraged to put on their own coats and shoes and use the toilets on the corridor, help is always offered if needed and assistance at the toilet is gained by ringing the bell.
Promoting this independence and keeping the children in their academic year cohorts helps to form friendships and early skills for school readiness.
We continue to provide free choice for children, so they can access any area of provision, playing and choosing independently. This brings in the British values, where children can make their own decisions, use manners and show respect to others.
We play and work closely with yellow room, continuing with milestone 3 of our nursery curriculum. This helps to reinforce your child’s learning and highlights any additional support they may need.
The activities we offer are always following your child’s interest, ideas and next stages of development. We continue with the prime areas and start linking the observations to the specific areas of the curriculum to widen your child’s experiences. We love water play, counting, building, drawing, using a variety of media to create artwork which we are always very proud of.
The outdoor space opens a different kind of learning, with opportunity for a wider range of vocabulary as we talk about the world around us, changes of weather and even passing traffic and aeroplanes, listening to sounds and describing what we hear and see. The outdoor environment gives us space to burn off energy whilst running, playing with the balls or building in our large construction area. We love getting messy and playing outside regularly.
Food is an important part of the day, We continue to promote the children’s independence at breakfast, snack and mealtimes, children are encouraged to wash hands, collect cutlery, pour milk/water and sit ready for meals.
Our aim is for your child to have as much fun and enjoyment whilst learning and developing in red room.
